I could understand that thinking, but Play and 7Digital both offer the ability to re-download. 7Digital calls it a 'locker' - a nice way of thinking of it. It means you can have a copy of your songs on your work machine as well as your home machine if you like - just take it out of your locker!

I'm guessing they don't want people to, um, send their account details to their friends so that tracks can be re-downloaded.

But then, you could just send the MP3 to them instead, so it's hardly a major piracy deterrent.

Yeah, I can see the appeal of the Download Manager to some people but to not offer the ability to re-download is an oversight that needs sorting ASAP.

Dude, your experience wasn't THAT bad - at least you got your money back.

Whilst I agree that Amazon should give you the OPTION to download the files separately (or, say, as a .zip file), I can see the logic behind their MP3 downloader. They're trying to be helpful. They've produced a downloader for multiple platforms, and it can even add the tracks to your iTunes library.

Forgot to mention. In another purchase again a week later I had to install the Amazon downloader again before I could complete my order - even though It was already installed from my previous purchase.

I did exactly the same thing too - clicked the save button instead fo the open button. Apart from mild panic I can't remember what I did after that or how I got back. I did expect to be charged twice so I did check and I wasn't. This was on 4th December, I don't whether anything has changed since then or whether I was just lucky. Like you though I don't like having to run the Amazon downloader or the 1download limit.

Completely agree. Amazon MP3 implementation is clumsy and graceless. Picked up the Kings of Leon for £3.00 (deal) and then when nothing seemed to happen with the downloader I clicked a few times and ended up with about seven sets of the songs in my queue. There's no facility to delete anything from your queue so I just had to stop downloads after I'd the the first and only copy I needed and wait a few days until Amazon decided I couldn't have them anyway and I could then remove them as failed downloads. This then left space for me to download the Brian Eno album for 79p which, if a it's a mistake, was lucky for me.
