I want to use mine as a radio journalist and not carry extra stuff. Some miniature cameras achieve quite fair sound (and so do good hearing aids!) so small mikes may not be all the problem. What often is wrong on portable gear is too-basic audio AGC, which slaps and breathes, and misses things. Very easily overcome with a double time-constant (just one additional capacitor and resistor) or better still a 'release chain' (one simple chip) so the gain tracks the audio upwards and downwards.
