Gossip, rumors, and innuendo in social media (Gris'l is what we termed it in http://determined2.com) encumbers communication in social networks, as much as spam hinders management of emails. Determined2.com is social networking for the purpose of self enhancement, and thereby cuts the added fat of Gris'l.

Questions of authenticity will outweight issues of privacy. We are acutely aware privacy has long, long gone, and as was discussed, outright lying and misdirecting has becomes the solution – creating false identities and online profalibis . We're back in the world of Eliza and turing tests, what is 'real' is defined by it's ability to convince others of it's veracity. The Samaritans have, for a long time, identified all of themselves as 'Jo' – a guise of protection for both the client and service provider, a mutually-accepted conceit.

Alternative identities have long been the stock-in-trade of the networked electronic sphere, yet every identity and account is steeped in something offline and real. Is the onus now on the unidentified party to authenticate itself? The elimination of privacy makes me think so.
