Last week I posted a review of Nokia’s new Vine service. While I was impressed by the concept and the its look and feel, I was disappointed with its lack of decent sharing capabilities. The Vine website makes it difficult to tell your Vines apart from those of other user. Sharing your Vines (once you [...]

An intriguing public art project launches today in the UK. Britglyph aims to create a huge drawing using geotagged photographs across the country. ‘Geoglyphs’ are pieces of art created using the earth beneath out feet. Think of those big white horses carved into hills in the English countryside and you’ll get the idea.
Whereas the Geoglyph [...]
A few weeks ago I wrote about Nokia’s range of lifetracking programs for their smartphones. At the time I was looking forward to the launch of viNe, Nokia’s new geolocative media sharing application. This week it’s finally gone public and I’ve been playing with it over the past couple of days on my N82 phone.

QR Codes are popular around the world as a way of quickly getting people to specific websites without having to type in URLs. Print a QR code like the one pictured here on your product and all customers need to do is take a photo of the code, scan it with QR code scanning software [...]
If you only read American tech blogs you could be forgiven for thinking that the first add-on applications for mobile phones only arrived in July when Apple opened their App Store. When I went on holiday recently I encouraged my friends (and you, my dear blog readers) to keep up with what I was doing via my posts to Twitter and photo uploads to Flickr, both of which were most easily followable on FriendFeed. While I was glad that I could let people know what I [...]
The one thing you notice when you spend time in Japan, especially Tokyo, is that everyone seems to use their mobile phones almost constantly. In the UK the heavy phone users are mainly the perpetual texters and annoying kids listening to music through their tinny phone speakers on the bus. Most other people keep their [...]
I’m a big fan of Truphone’s VoIP solution. I’ve got it installed on my Nokia E61i and it’s useful to have around if I want to make a call when abroad. A few pence per minute is a lot better than the 60p per minute, or whatever, my normal network will charge me. Unfortunately when [...]

Over the past couple of days I’ve been playing with two excellent location-aware apps for the iPhone. The first, Twinkle, is a Twitter client that can use your location to find what other users of the app within a definable radius of you (down to as close as one mile) are talking about. I’ve already [...]
